A Northern Kentucky high school principal has tendered his resignation after being accused of providing alcohol to minors during a New Year’s Eve party at his home in Independence.
Anthony Procaccino, the principal of Scott High School in Taylor Mill, submitted his resignation to the Kenton County Board of Education on Nov. 22, said school district spokesperson Jessica Dykes.
Procaccino, 51, is charged in Kenton County District Court with two counts of assisting a minor in purchasing alcohol − misdemeanors punishable by a fine of up to $250.
According to Kenton County police, Procaccino was captured on video holding a multi-hosed funnel known as a “beer bong” while two juveniles drank alcohol from it. Police said a teen brought the funnel to the party.
The teens in the videos were identified as students of Scott High School and Simon Kenton High School and ranged in age from 16 to 17 years old. Procaccino was the principal of White’s Tower Elementary School at the time.
The initial complaint was brought forward by the mother of one of the involved juveniles, who provided videos of the incident, police said.
Procaccino’s resignation came after the deadline to be included on the agenda for the school board’s December meeting, so board members will vote on it during their Jan. 6 meeting, Dykes said.
Assistant Principal Cody Wolf was appointed interim principal to fill Procaccino’s vacancy.
Procaccino is expected to appear in court again on Jan. 15 before Judge Douglas Grothaus.
