South by Southwest Conference and Festivals are looking for volunteers for Austin’s premiere tech and entertainment event in March.
Founded in 1987, SXSW features tech, music, comedy and film and television showcases with conferences, sessions and networking opportunities.
SXSW volunteers can choose from more than 20 different crews to support the festivals and conference: accessibility, ambassadors, stage crew, registration, exhibition, event transportation, sessions, tech and more. SXSW needs volunteers for both its main festival as well as SXSW EDU.
“SXSW and SXSW EDU offer many opportunities for personal and professional growth, while fostering a culture of fun and community engagement,” a news release calling for volunteers read.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old by March 1 and must be able to contribute at least 18 hours of work to attend SXSW EDU — SXSW’s event focused on educating learners everywhere — or a minimum of 24 hours to attend SXSW. Volunteer day and night positions are both available.
Returning volunteers will receive an email on how to sign up this month.
SXSW will host a call for new volunteers from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Austin Convention Center. New volunteers hoping to work at this year’s festivals and conference must attend the volunteer call or the subsequent sessions to register, select a crew and create a schedule.

Here is a schedule breakdown for potential volunteers:

SXSW Volunteer Call: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Jan. 26 at Austin Convention Center in Ballroom ABC.

Volunteer Support & Sign-Up Session: 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Feb. 3 at SXSW Headquarters (1400 Lavaca St.).

Volunteer Support & Sign-Up Session: 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Feb. 13 at SXSW Headquarters (1400 Lavaca St.).

Volunteer Support & Sign-Up Session: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Feb. 22 at SXSW Headquarters (1400 Lavaca St.).
Online sign-up is also available to new and returning volunteers. Returning volunteers can register starting Jan. 13 and new volunteers can register starting Jan. 27. For more information, SXSW suggests going to its volunteer registration page or emailing its team.
SXSW will take place March 7-15, and SXSW EDU will take place March 3-6.
