Jan. 16—Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis said leads have been hard to come by in this week’s slaying of two 20-year-old men.
“If anyone has any information…even the most minute detail, we want them to call us,” Griffis said Thursday afternoon.
Griffis explained that around 9 p.m. Monday, a man heard what he thought were gunshots, and got into his vehicle to investigate. He found another vehicle in the 12000 block of Driver’s Hall of Fame that was parked adjacent to a fence next to someone’s property. Finding it suspicious, he called 9-1-1.
When deputies arrived, they found Brendon Martinez and Carlos Ramos deceased.
A FLOCK camera took a picture of a vehicle that would be related to the incident, but it was only a partial picture and not of good quality, Griffis said.
“Yesterday my guys were talking to family to try to find out who they hung out with,” Griffis said.
They also obtained permission from one of the young men’s family members to search his phone, the sheriff said.
