The Sherman Minton Renewal project could clear its final hurdle next week.
In a news release Thursday, project leaders said short-term, single-lane closures will impact traffic in both directions on the bridge next week in order to make way for final inspections.
Weather permitting, inspections will take place approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily starting Tuesday through Jan. 24, according to the release. Lane restrictions may switch between left and right lanes depending on inspection needs.

All ramps connected to the bridge will remain open throughout the week.
Officials advised drivers to slow down, be aware of altered traffic patterns and expect delays, adding that motorists should seek alternate routes if possible.
The inspections mark the final phase for the multi-year project leveled at prolonging the bridge’s lifespan. Officials announced in December that the project’s final construction phase had ended.
First opened in 1962, the bridge carries around 70,000 vehicles daily between Louisville and New Albany when fully operational, according to the Sherman Minton Renewal project website.
“The work of our design-build team will add up to 30 years of life to this bridge, which translates to improved quality of life for Kentuckians and all those who rely on it,” Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Jim Gray said previously.
