Smokin’ This and That BBQ robbed of $7K worth of equipment; public asked to help ID thieves

A Northern Kentucky restaurant is asking for the public’s help after thieves stole almost $7,000 worth of equipment on Christmas night.

Smokin’ This and That BBQ made the plea in a Facebook post where they shared grainy still shots from surveillance cameras of the three male suspects and the white dump truck used to haul away the goods around 8 p.m.

“The struggle has been real for all small businesses for the last few years; pandemic and economy. We’re no exception to that. We haven’t given up through it all and YOU 3 CRIMINALS are about to learn how much that passion and dedication for what we do means to us,” the restaurant posted on social media.

Owner Guy Cummins told The Enquirer he’s been in touch with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department about the crime. He and his employees noticed the restaurant had been targeted when they opened for business Dec. 26.

Smokin’ This and That BBQ shared still images from surveillance footage that caught three people stealing from the restaurant Dec. 25.

He said stolen items include commercial-grade food warmers, a meat slicer, panini press, griddle, brand new toilet, full 100-pound propane tanks, hickory and cherry firewood, stock pot, pop-up tents and catering linens.

The estimated loss amounts to around $6,800.

The Facebook post about the crime has hundred of reactions and has been shared at least 1,000 times.

“The whole community around Northern Kentucky – they’re out here looking,” Cummins said, adding that he hopes the men are caught.
