Southwest Airlines is ringing in the new year with one-way airfares as low as $49 on some routes.
Deals are also available on cruise, rental car, hotel and vacation packages as part of the sale.
“We’re excited to support our customers who are ready to plan their next adventure by offering exclusive travel deals across our air, car, hotel and vacation packages,” Jennifer Bridie, Vice President Marketing at Southwest Airlines, said in a statement. “Of course, all of our deals come with the unique flexibility and value that our customers love. This week, we’re making trip planning that much easier to jumpstart the new year.”
When are Southwest’s sale fares available?
Tickets priced as low as $49 one-way are available for purchase through 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday.
The sale prices apply to flights between Jan. 28 and May 7 for continental U.S. and interisland Hawaiian travel and Jan. 28 through May 22 for travel between the mainland U.S. and Hawaii and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Blackout days include Feb. 13-23 and March 7 through April 27, though not all blackout days apply to both directions on every route.
Sale fares are available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for continental U.S. and interisland Hawaiian flights, with more expansive daily offerings for flights between the mainland and Hawaii, as well as San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Changes coming to Southwest
Southwest, which has long set itself apart from competitors by not assigning seats, plans to change that policy and introduce extra legroom seating this year. Although the carrier has not yet announced a date for implementing the change, it said in the fall that it expected to do so in the second half of 2025.
