Stream Jimmy Carter’s state funeral Tuesday as ceremony’s begin in Washington, D.C.

The state funeral for Jimmy Carter continues Tuesday as his casket makes its way from The Carter Center to the U.S. Capitol where he will lie in repose in the Capitol Rotunda.

Carter his laid in repose for public viewing at The Carter Center since 7 p.m. Saturday and remained in repose until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

A 9:30 a.m. ceremony Tuesday at The Carter Center will precede a departure for Dobbins Air Force Base and a flight to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

From there, a motorcade will travel at 1:15 p.m. to the U.S. Navy Memorial for a horse-drawn caisson to the U.S. Capitol at 2 p.m.

Congress will pay respects during a 3 p.m. ceremony in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. Carter will lie in state from 7 p.m. to midnight for public viewing.

Carter will lie in state for public viewing from 7 a.m., Jan. 8, until 7 a.m., Jan. 9.

USA Today will live stream Tuesday’s events beginning at 3 p.m. with the ceremony at the U.S. Capitol.

Carter will be celebrated once more in Washington, D.C., on Thursday during a national ceremony at the National Cathedral, where President Joe Biden will provide the eulogy.

Schedule for Thursday, Jan. 9

  • A 9 a.m. ceremony at the U.S. Capitol as the motorcade departs for the Washington National Cathedral and a 9:30 a.m. arrival ceremony.

  • The National Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m.

  • Following the ceremony, at 11:15 a.m., Carter’s family will travel by motorcade to Joint Base Andrews for departure back to Georgia.

  • Special Air Mission 39 arrives at Lawson Army Airfield at Fort Moore, Georgia, at 2 p.m.

  • Carter and his family then travel by motorcade to Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains for a private funeral service at 3:45 p.m.

  • The family will travel by motorcade at 4:45 to the Carter’s private residence for a private interment at 5:20 p.m.

“The public is invited to line the motorcade route as Carter and his family travel through his beloved hometown of Plains, Georgia to the late president’s final resting place. Prior to interment, the U.S. Navy will conduct a missing man formation flyover in honor of former President Carter’s naval service and time as commander-in-chief shortly after the motorcade’s arrival at the residence,” the family stated.
