Suspect arrested after 2 bodies found after New Year’s Day welfare check in Gwinnett

A welfare check led to a gruesome discovery in what police are saying is a New Year’s Day double homicide.

The Lilburn Police Department says on June 5 around 5:30 p.m., officers performed a welfare check at a home after receiving a call from an out-of-state caller.

Police initiated an investigation, which quickly evolved into a possible homicide investigation throughout the following day. The investigation continued into Tuesday evening as they gathered evidence, followed leads and conducted interviews.

As their investigation continued, police discovered there were two separate crime scenes in Gwinnett County, where they recovered and identified two bodies.

The suspect was found 30 miles from Lilburn, arrested and charged with murder. The suspect is housed at the Gwinnett County Jail.
