Authorities in Phoenix and Pima County worked together to identify and jail a suspect in a hit-and-run killing that took place last week in Phoenix.
Police have named 38-year-old Miguel Preciado Jr. as the suspect responsible for the death of Ethan Jaaziel Felix on Friday, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower.
Investigators believe that Preciado “intentionally struck” Felix with his car on Friday evening and left the scene soon after. Police found Felix, 35, with serious injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, authorities said Saturday.
The incident took place near 16th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix.
Felix leaves behind five children, his family told FOX 10.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department helped locate Preciado’s car in a “desert area” outside of Tucson on Monday, Bower wrote in a news release. While authorities processed Preciado’s vehicle, other deputies located him several miles away and took him into custody “without incident.”
Preciado was booked into Maricopa County jail on several felony charges, including 1st degree murder.
