SWAT team in Hyannis as unspecified ‘criminal investigation’ shut down Bristol Avenue

A Hyannis road is open again after an unspecified criminal investigation Sunday morning, according to the Barnstable Police Department.

Barnstable police said in a social media post around 11:30 a.m. that they were working an active criminal investigation in the area of Bristol Avenue in Hyannis and the road was shut down. They asked that motorists and pedestrians avoid Bristol Avenue and surrounding streets while the investigation was ongoing.

A police dispatcher said Sunday afternoon that the area had been reopened to motor vehicles.

At 2:45 p.m., the police reported that the situation had been resolved and thanked residents for their cooperation and patience.
