The Taylor County grand jury indicted a man accused of committing a murder in south Abilene.
Jaylen Clint Shafer of Abilene was indicted for first-degree felony murder of David Vasquez on Oct. 29.
Shafer was being held Friday in the Taylor County Jail Friday on a $250,000 surety bond, according to online jail records.
Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

On Oct. 29 around 12:30 a.m., police responded to call of a possible injured person in the 5200 block of U.S. Highway 277 and Clack Street, according to a media release.
Responding officers reported an unresponsive man lying in the culvert area of the roadway. Medical help arrived to find Vasquez suffering from a gunshot wound, which later caused his death.
Next of kin was notified, and Shafer was charged and booked into the Taylor County Jail for his alleged involvement.
