California Department of Transportation District 2 (Caltrans) and Central Striping Service, Inc. have begun work on a safety improvement project along Interstate 5 exit ramps in Tehama County.
The $984,000 project is upgrading or installing signage and applying enhanced pavement markings at all exit ramps between the Cottonwood Creek Bridge in the north end of the county and the Liberal Avenue overcrossing near Corning to help prevent wrong-way entry onto the interstate.
Construction activities started Jan. 6 and are ongoing until the project is complete.
Caltrans advises travelers should plan for nighttime ramp, shoulder, and mainline line closures at various locations, Sunday nights through Friday mornings between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays and/or detours.
