Tears flow for young woman shot in street

Mourners have gathered to farewell a young woman who was found dead in the street with gunshot wounds days before Christmas, paying tribute to her “fierce loyalty” and “unwavering compassion”.

Chloe Jade Mason, 23, died from gunshot wounds allegedly sustained outside an address on Railway Pde in Caboolture on December 22.

Her family and friends are gathering at St Mary’s Anglican Church in Redcliffe to offer their final farewells – some already offering condolences and remembering her “cheeky smile and contagious laugh” through the toughest times.

“Chloe brought light and laughter into the lives of everyone she encountered,” an obituary for Ms Mason states.

“Throughout her life, Chloe was known for her fierce loyalty and her readiness to defend those who were being treated poorly.

“Whether through a kind word or a helping hand, she made it her mission to uplift others and create a sense of belonging wherever she went.”

Ms Mason – known to those close to her as “CJ” – was remembered for her ability to “see the best in people” and inspiring others around her to do the same.

The 23-year-old’s kindness was considered a “beacon of hope” and her family said her love was “a gift to all who had the honour of knowing her”.

“Chloe’s laughter, her smiles, and her gentle spirit will be dearly missed, but her legacy of compassion and love will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched,” her family said through the obituary.
