Teen facing murder charges in connection with deadly 2024 Jamaica Plain shooting

A teenager is facing murder charges in connection with a deadly shooting in Jamaica Plain last year.

18-year-old Jason Douglas of Quincy is slated to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court. on charges of murder, possession of a large capacity feeding device, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Officers responding to reports of multiple gunshots and a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 277 Centre Street near the Jackson Square MBTA station just before 9:30 p.m. found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

The man, identified as 19-year-old Quami J. Clarke was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

19-year-old Edwin Vinales was also arrested in connection to the shooting.

After the shooting, Vinales allegedly ditched a firearm as officers chased after him. When Vinales was apprehended, police said officers recovered another semi-automatic firearm with an extended magazine capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition.

The shooting remains under investigation.
