Terre Haute, state crews working to dig out from the storm

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) Although the worst part will be over schools and government agencies will remain closed in Vigo County, on Monday.

“We are closing government offices tomorrow so that means the courthouse will be closed, the annex will be closed. We want to give our guys and crews time to get the parking lots open and things like that,” said Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard.

Those crews were made through partnerships with many different organizations, all working together.

“We actually have a big group text with EMA, with the mayor, with Duke Energy, so everybody is communicating really well,” Clinkenbeard said.

One of those partners is the Indiana Department of Transportation.

“For this system, we are all hands on deck. We have over 500 trucks that are coming in state-wide. Here in the Crawfordsville district we have what looks to be over 130 trucks out there. Those are full callouts. We have everybody that is working for us that is plow truck certified, with their CDL, out there that is going to be on the roadways,” said Blake Dollier, a spokesman for the Indiana Department of Transportation.
