LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Adrian Riley Suarez pleaded guilty Friday morning to conspiracy to commit robbery resulting in serious bodily injury for the Aug. 4, 2023, robbery and killing of Jordan Loveall during a drug deal.
Suarez, now 24, and David Trevino, now 23 — both from Hereford, Texas — worked most of the summer of 2023 in the Lafayette area, serving wind turbines in neighboring Benton County. Aug. 4 was their last night. They were heading back to Texas in the morning. But first, they wanted to get some marijuana to celebrate with friends, who also worked on the turbines.
Trevino suggested they rob Loveall of his pot, and when they went to Loveall’s house in the 2000 block of Roosevelt Avenue, according to testimony in Trevino’s trial in September, something went awry. Trevino and Loveall exchanged shots, but Loveall was mortally wounded.
Like Trevino, Suarez faced a murder charge, but that charge and an armed robbery charge will be dismissed at sentencing.
The plea agreement leaves the sentence up to the court but acknowledges that Suarez will serve a minimum of 10 years in prison — the lightest sentence for a Level 2 felony. The maximum sentence for a Level 2 felony in Indiana is 30 years. Suarez will have to serve 75% of whatever sentence he receives before he can be released, according to Indiana law.
A sentencing date does not appear yet on the court’s docket.
Trevino was sentenced in October to 55 years for the murder and 10 years for use of a firearm, for a total of 65 years.
