The third suspect who was charged with murder and attempted murder in the 2018 shooting on Chandler Court made his first appearance in Kern County Superior Court on Wednesday.
Milo Lomar Sullivan Jr., 25, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, two counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle, one count of possessing a firearm as a felon, one count of possessing ammunition as someone prohibited from owning a firearm, one count of conspiring to commit a crime and one count of participating in a criminal street gang.
Christopher Nathaniel Kenney, the first suspect to be arrested in relation to this incident, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, two counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, one count of possessing a firearm as a felon and one count of possessing ammunition as someone prohibited from owning a firearm.
Sullivan’s codefendant Tyrell Cheadle, 29, was charged with the same counts as Sullivan. Kenney is not listed as a codefendant with Sullivan and Cheadle.
Sullivan, Cheadle and Kenney are accused of being members of the criminal street gang East Side Crips who planned and carried out the shooting of a group of West Side Crips gang members in the 2600 block of Chandler Court on Sept. 23, 2018, according to court records.
The shooting injured four people and killed one. The victim who died in the shooting was identified as Jeremy Charles Littlejohn, 20, by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
Sullivan was arrested Sunday and was the last of the three suspects to be arrested in relation to the shooting. Sullivan appeared in court for his felony arraignment Wednesday and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
Kern County Superior Court Judge Sally Ackerknecht said Sullivan’s case was eligible for the death penalty. Ackerknecht cited this fact, as well as the nature of the charges, as reasons to deny bail.
Sullivan was convicted in four felony cases in the past, ranging from 2017 to 2023.
A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 4.
