This weekend’s forecast for the Jersey Shore region

Planning your weekend around the Jersey Shore? Be prepared for rain and slick roads.

“While there’s a 50-70% chance of rain [this weekend], the good news is that widespread flooding is not expected,” says Scott Withers, Severe Wx Live Meteorologist & Environmental GeoScientist.

With forecast rainfall totals below half an inch, Withers anticipates some ponding on roads or isolated street flooding, but no major flooding issues.

Unfortunately, this weekend’s rain will have little impact on the ongoing drought conditions in the region.

“[Monmouth and Ocean] counties are in severe and extreme droughts, and these conditions are expected to persist even after the weekend’s rainfall,” said Withers.
