A traffic stop in Bridgeport late Tuesday led to the discovery of a gun that was reported stolen six years ago.
Patrol officers in the evening hours spotted a driver on Harral Avenue as he quickly drove past police without a front license plate, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.
Police said officers were able to catch up to the driver and pull him over. Police found that the vehicle was not insured.
When the driver was asked to get out of the car, police said he began fumbling with something in his waistband. He was patted down before officers reportedly found a Ruger handgun that was loaded with six rounds of ammunition, according to police.
Investigators later found that the gun was reported stolen in 2018, police said.
According to police, the driver was identified as 35-year-old Felix Manuel Delvalle of Bridgeport. He was arrested on charges of carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, failure to display license plates and operating with no insurance.
Delvalle’s bond was set at $75,000.
