VERO BEACH − A crash involving a car and a Brightline passenger train damaged the front end of the sedan, but the driver reported no injuries to first responders, police and fire officials said.
The crash occurred just after 10 a.m. on a downtown Vero Beach crossing just west of Commerce Avenue at 20th Place and 20th Street, according to Vero Beach police and officials with Indian River County Fire Rescue.

The BMW car sustained front-end damage after it was “clipped by (the) train,” said Assistant Fire Chief Bill Herrington. The only occupant of the car was its driver who was described as a woman who declined medical treatment, Herrington said.
In a social media post around 10:30 a.m., Vero Beach police urged drivers to avoid the area.
The car had been removed from the crash site and the roadway open shortly after 11 a.m.
