FOND DU LAC – A work van stolen from a Fond du Lac hospital Wednesday morning has been recovered in Beaver Dam and a suspect is in custody.
Fond du Lac Police Department said in a news release officers responded to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital, 430 E. Division St., at around 11:15 a.m. Jan. 15 for the report of a stolen work van that had been taken about 20 minutes earlier.
The work van, the release said, was left unlocked and running in the parking lot.
As officers began canvasing the area, they reported seeing the stolen vehicle register on a Flock license plate recognition system as it merged onto U.S. 41 from South Hickory Street.
Shortly thereafter, another officer confirmed the stolen vehicle was spotted on a Flock camera in the city of Beaver Dam.

Information was relayed to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Beaver Dam Police Department. They soon located the stolen vehicle in a Walmart parking lot and took a 43-year-old Columbus man into custody without incident.
A Fond du Lac officer responded to Beaver Dam and transported the suspect to Fond du Lac County Jail. The suspect, according to the release, is being held on a charge of operate motor vehicle without owner’s consent. His name was not immediately released.
