Victim suffers gunshot wound in Norwich shooting: What police are saying

A victim suffered a gunshot wound near Sandy Lane in Norwich late Sunday evening.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., the Norwich Police Department’s Dispatch Center received numerous 911 calls for shots fired in the area of Sandy Lane. Norwich Police said responding officers located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound and a vehicle with damage consistent with gunfire.

According to Norwich Police, the victim’s injuries are not life threatening, and the shooting appears to be targeted. There is no known threat to the public.

The Norwich Police Department’s Detective Division responded and processed the scene for evidence. Norwich Police said there is no further information available at this time.
