Residents in eastern parts of Australia are being put on alert for possible wild weather conditions, as temperatures reach above 40 degrees in other parts of the country.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned residents in eastern parts of NSW there could be severe weather on Thursday.
“We’ll continue to see showers and thunderstorms across eastern parts of NSW, with some of these could be severe with heavy rain, large hail and damaging winds so watch out for that,” BOM meteorologist Dean Narramore said.
“While west of the ranges, hot, dry and sunny conditions will continue with temperatures in the low to high 30s.”

“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours,” the warning sated.
“Locations which may be affected include Dalby, Oakey, Millmerran, Pittsworth and Surat.”
Mr Narramore said a high pressure system was continuing to dominate much of the country, but not areas of eastern Australia that could expect rain on Thursday.
“Showers and thunderstorm also through parts of NSW and southwest Queensland, and maybe western Victoria as well,” he said.
“While elsewhere it’ll fine, dry and sunny.”
Mr Narramore said Queensland would be a bit of a mixed bag with weather on Thursday.
“In Queensland, continuing the story of very hot, dry and sunny weather in western parts with temperatures in the low 40s there,” he said.
“But we are seeing widespread showers and thunderstorms across the southeast Queensland, including around the Brisbane area which is looking at 29 degrees on Thursday.”

The BOM has also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts in Queensland.
Meanwhile, Birdsville and Longreach are forecast to reach 43 degrees on Thursday.
The Bureau forecasts a dry hot and sunny day across much of Victoria on Thursday, with many cities seeing temperatures in the low to mid 30s.

It’s going to be another hot and sunny one for South Australia, with Adelaide set to reach 33 degrees, while Cooper Peedy will hit a top of 41 degrees on Thursday.
Perth will is forecast to reach 30 degrees while Exmouth in the northern part of the state will see 43 degrees.
Mr Narramore said widespread showers and storms across are forecast for Kimberly, Top End and Cape York.
Darwin will reach 34 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms on Thursday.
