West Chester homeowner shoots intruder, suspect sustains life-threatening injuries

A suspect in a West Chester Township home invasion was hospitalized Sunday after he was shot by the apartment’s owner, according to the township.

In a press release issued around 5 a.m., West Chester spokesperson Barb Wilson said police were sent to an apartment at 7560 Shawnee Lane for a shooting.

The homeowner told police he heard noises on his balcony and found an intruder in his home.

He shot the male who went inside the apartment, Wilson said. The invasion suspect is now hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities did not identify the homeowner or the invasion suspect in the release.

Detectives with West Chester Police Department are investigating the shooting.
