West Sacramento woman to deliver aid to LA wildfire victims

(FOX40.COM) — Wildfires in Los Angeles have left many families without homes or belongings, and people across the state are stepping up to help. One Sacramento woman is on a mission to provide essential items to those affected.

Tammy Pacheco of West Sacramento is no stranger to tragedy. Years ago, her family lost everything in a flood. Now, she’s turning her own experience into compassion, heading down to LA with much-needed supplies for families who have lost everything in the wildfires.

“I started with a couple of cases of water,” Pacheco said. “Then I called friends, and I called other friends, and said spread the word, I’m going to LA.”

As flames continue to consume homes in Los Angeles, Pacheco is packing up to help. Watching the devastation unfold on TV brought back painful memories for her.

“These things, clothing – that’s replaceable. But family pictures – you can’t replace any of that,” Pacheco said.

Since experiencing her own loss, Pacheco has made it her mission to give back. Over the last week, she has collected diapers, blankets, clothes, cases of water, and more.

“This is not the first trip that we are doing,” she said. “We are going to be going out there until someone tells us not to.”

A local record label owner, Pacheco has teamed up with her musicians and community members to pack several trucks with donations. They plan to make multiple trips to LA.

“They need help,” Pacheco said. “If you can’t go, I will go for you.”

Pacheco’s mission is a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

“I feel for them. I really do. What I’m doing may not be a big dent because there are so many of them, but I want to put whatever I can, the little bit that I can, from all the way from Sacramento to LA,” she said.
