MONROE COUNTY — When it comes to OREO cookies, nothing beats the original. That’s pretty amazing since the brand has experimented with more than 100 versions of OREOs.
The Monroe News asked Monroe County what flavor makes the best OREO cookie and the results are in.
More than 170 people voted. Original OREO takes the win at 48.54% followed by Double Stuf OREO at 11.70%. Peanut Butter OREO garnered 9.94%. Birthday Cake OREO and Mint OREO tied with 6.43%. Next was Tiramisu OREO with 5.25%; Golden OREO 4.09% and Lemon OREO 2.92%. The Most Stuf OREO and Red Velvet OREO also tied at 2.34%.

Michigan’s favorite OREO flavor is Tiramisu OREO and favorite OREO style is The Most Stuf OREO.

Focusing on OREO styles, the survey revealed most of the country is content with the original cookie design.
The original OREO is the most popular OREO style in 26 states. The rest of the country divided their support.
Following the original style, Americans love The Most Stuf OREO. Nine total states prefer this style, officially making it the most favored OREO style variation.

Golden OREOs round out the top three. Golden OREOs have a fanbase in the middle of the country made up of Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma. In total, this style is the most popular in six states.
Winning in seven states was Tiramisu OREO. This flavor finds fans in states like Michigan, Colorado and Florida. Also leading in seven states, the Birthday Cake OREO. From Georgia to Wisconsin, both of these flavors are the second-most popular behind the Original OREO, making them the most popular flavor variations.
To determine the most popular OREO flavor and style in every U.S. state, researchers compiled a list of 112 search terms based on OREO’s online cookie collection and various food news publication coverage of limited edition flavors. They analyzed the regional interest of the 112 OREO styles and flavors on our list using Google Trends search data from November 2023 to November 2024. They compared search interests to find every state’s favorite OREO flavor and style, using high search interest as an indicator of popularity.
