A new JC Bank branch is opening at the former site of Joella’s Hot Chicken, near College Mall.
What’s going into the former Joella’s Hot Chicken on Third Street?
A new branch of the southern-Indiana based JC Bank is going into the old site of Joella’s at 3002 E. Third St. The new branch location will be the third JC Bank location in Bloomington.
The Louisville-based fast-food chain first opened in Bloomington in 2019 and closed in November 2023.

What will the JC Bank location offer?
The location will offer drive-thru services, ATMs, notary services, and wealth management and mortgage services.
What else has opened and closed around College Mall?
The College Mall area has seen several openings and closings in recent months.
In late December, the Taco Bell Cantina opened on 2611 E. Third St. On Jan. 17, both Staples and Party City will close. Last May, both the Taco Bell and KFC at the corner of Third Street and Pete Ellis Drive closed, with plans for a Crew Car Wash in the works.
A Dave and Buster’s is expected to open at the former site of Bed, Bath and Beyond on College Mall Road later this month.
