In less than a week, President-elect Donald Trump is set to assume the United States presidency for the second time.
Trump will officially become the 47th president on Inauguration Day, which takes place on Monday, Jan. 20 this year. His running mate, Ohio Sen. and Vice President-elect JD Vance, will also be sworn in on that day.
When is Inauguration Day?
Inauguration Day occurs every four years on Jan. 20. This year, it is on Monday.
This year, Jan. 20 is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Trump will be just one of just a couple presidents to be sworn in on Martin Luther King Jr. Day since the holiday was officially designated in 1983. The first was former President Bill Clinton.

When does Trump officially become president?
The twentieth amendment of the United States constitution, passed in 1933, stipulates that the terms of previous President and Vice President end at noon on the 20th day of January and the terms of their successors then begin.
In accordance with the law, Trump and Vance are scheduled to be sworn in at noon on Jan. 20.
How can I get tickets to Trump’s inauguration?
Tickets to the inauguration are free and can be requested from members of the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives for the 119th Congress. More than 220,000 tickets will be distributed, according to the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.

Who is performing at Trump’s inauguration?
On Monday, country singer Carrie Underwood said in a statement that she is “honored” to sing at Trump’s inauguration.
The Grammy Award-winner will be singing “America the Beautiful.”
Inaugurations often feature famous performers. In 2021, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez were among the performers at President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
