Bucks County residents won’t yet escape freezing temperatures, as another cold front moves in this weekend, expected to bring less than an inch of snow along with it.
The snow began to fall overnight and Bucks County woke up to a covering on Saturday morning.
While the cold will continue, the snow should move out of Bucks County and the Philadelphia region by late morning, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.
“As the snow event ends this morning, we turn quieter. Highs today will range from the mid 20s to mid 30s. Clouds decrease throughout the day but the winds increase with gusts reaching up to 25 mph. More cold and wind arrives next week,” the NWS posted on X.
Freezing temperatures continued across the county, accompanied by extreme winds with gusts of up to 60 mph in some areas, according to Zack Cooper, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Earlier in the week power outages were reported outside of Quakertown because of fallen tree limbs.
Temperatures are expected to remain below average for several more days as a weak storm system makes its way through the region.
How much snow is Bucks County getting today?
Most of Bucks County can expect less than an inch of snow. Areas north, including the Poconos, could see approximately an inch of snowfall.
Most of the storm’s snowfall will primarily be limited to southern Delaware and southern Maryland, Cooper said.
Kids and their parents sledding at the Walter S. Miller Elementary School in Levittown on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.
“But most of the area, we’re expecting a pretty minor event,” he said.
What is the weather forecast for the Eagles game on Sunday?
The Eagles will not have to deal with snow at Lincoln Funancial Field when they kick off Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in their week one wild card game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The snow will have moved out and the forecast calls for cold but sunny skies before the sun goes down.
At kickoff temperatures should be in the mid 30s but get colder as night falls.
Sunday’s low temperature is forecasted at about 28 degrees.
When will Bucks County see warmer temps in forecast?
The only slight warming on the horizon for Bucks County is heading into Monday, Cooper added, when temperatures could rise to the upper 30s before returning to near or below freezing through the middle of next week.
This could bring a little bit of moderation to break up the stretch of colder days, but there’s still “no major warming in sight,” he said.
