Who should be the Dispatch Student of the Week?

It’s time to cast your vote for our next Dispatch Student of the Week.

Vote in the poll below before noon on Thursday to recognize an outstanding local high school student.

Participating high school principals, teachers and guidance counselors nominated students they say have shown outstanding academic and school achievement and community service.

We will announce the winner and runner-up on Friday.

The nominees for Dec. 13:

Jo Wise, Lakewood High School: “Jo Wise is a freshman at Lakewood High School who is in the. top 10% of her class with a GPA of 3.875, while taking a schedule full of honors courses. She spends her time outside the classroom running cross country and focusing on her love for animals as a member of 4-H.”

Rio Hall, New Albany High School: “Rio Hall is a senior at New Albany High School and an active member of the City of New Albany Sustainability Board. As co-president of the Environmental Club, she promotes sustainability while also excelling academically as a National AP Scholar and member of the National Honor Society. Rio is a three-year sectional swimmer and two-year district qualifier on the NAHS Swim and Dive Team. She also shares her passion for music as a saxophonist and section leader in the school band. Additionally, Rio works as a swim instructor at Goldfish Swim School, inspiring young swimmers. For her Senior Seminar project, she wrote a novel titled “Love in Vain,” exploring themes of loss and resilience. Through her diverse activities, Rio demonstrates a strong commitment to her community and personal development.”

Anna Traore, Canal Winchester High School: “Anna Traore is an exemplary student. She is new to Canal Winchester this year and is mastering all of her classes while learning English as a second language. Anna has a 3.76 GPA! Anna continuously shows up and gives 100% in the classroom. She always goes above and beyond what is asked of her. And she does it with a smile. Anna has not shied away from getting involved with school activities. She participated in Youth at the Booth this Fall and plans to join the CWHS Softball team this Spring.”

Ty Neubert, St. Francis DeSales High School: “St. Francis DeSales High School is proud to nominate senior Ty Neubert for the Dispatch Student of the Week. Ty is a member of the Fraternitas Club, Mind over Matter Club, and Spanish Club. He is also a Student Ambassador for the high school. Ty was a captain for the Stallions Football team, and will play baseball this spring. He is looking forward to volunteering again for the Charity Newsies with his baseball teammates. Next fall, Ty will play football at Ohio University, and major in Business with a minor in Finance.”
