When they arrived, they found a woman sitting on the ground in front of her apartment building bleeding heavily.
Instead of telling police he shot his wife, Anderson told them his wife had shot herself.

At the hospital, Anderson’s wife told police she filed for divorce and that he had been served the papers earlier in the day. When she got home, he was asleep, but later awoke after he heard his wife on the phone and became angry.
Police say Anderson grabbed a gun, forced his wife in the bedroom and shot her in the cheek.
The couple’s children were home and witnessed the abuse, officials say.
On Monday, jurors found Anderson guilty and he was sentenced to 70 years to serve 63 in confinement with the balance on probation.
