Will it snow in North Jersey over next week? 1-4 inches possible over weekend

Parts of New Jersey could be seeing some snow this week as reports show a potential dusting in South Jersey on Thursday while Sunday may call for heavier snow in the rest of the state.

National Weather Service Mount Holly reported light snowfall may accumulate on Thursday afternoon. Forecasts show areas in South Jersey receiving less than an inch of snow on Thursday, while North Jersey will see a frigid but dry day.

North Jersey could see potential snowfall on Sunday. NWS said in their forecast of the Teterboro area, as of Wednesday, that there is a 40% chance of snow after 1 p.m. on Sunday. Rain is also in the forecast for Sunday afternoon, according to NWS. In the evening before 1 a.m., there is a 50% chance of snowfall in Bergen County.

“It’s still a little early for an exact amount prediction, but it looks like as of right now Sunday afternoon and evening will be the most likely timeframe for snow,” said NWS meteorologist Bill Goodman.

Goodman said his best guess is that North Jersey may see 1 to 4 inches on Sunday, although he said the rain in the forecast may weaken the chances of snow.

National Weather Service Mount Holly and New York have not put out snow advisories as of Wednesday afternoon.

Forecasts in Bergen County predict temperatures will reach highs of the low 40s during the day on Sunday, but temperatures will dramatically dip to the teens in the evening, according to NWS.
