Texans may not have to wait long for their next snowfall. Just a week after a polar vortex brought snow and freezing temperatures to the state, another cold snap is approaching, just in time for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
This weekend’s cold front is expected to bring even colder conditions, with some areas preparing for single-digit lows and temperatures in the low teens — the coldest temperatures of the winter so far.
Although earlier forecasts indicated minimal chances of snow, the likelihood of a snow event is increasing as the days progress.
Will it snow in Texas?
Arctic air will return to Texas over the weekend, bringing below-freezing temperatures, low wind chills and the chance of wintry precipitation once again.
The cold front is expected to reach Texas between late Saturday and early Sunday morning, lingering through Tuesday before temperatures begin to rise slightly midweek.

Temperatures will vary across the state, with the Panhandle and South Plains experiencing lows in the single digits and highs in the teens and low 20s.
Though no part of Texas is expected to reach subzero temperatures, the latest forecast suggests some will come dangerously close, with parts of the Panhandle dropping as low as 1 degree.
