Woman killed in Akron house fire identified; 3 others injured including 2 firefighters

The victim of a Saturday evening house fire in Akron has been identified.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office says 20-year-old Haleigh Horger of Akron, died from injuries sustained in the blaze in a home on the 1100 block of Vernon Odom Boulevard.

Firefighters were called to the house fire around 5:50 p.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the top floor of the home.

Horger was found in the home’s attic and was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General where she later died around 6:50 p.m.

The fire left three others injured including two Akron firefighters.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the fire department said.
