A 22-year-old man will face court over allegations he broke into a stranger’s home and raped her while she slept in Alice Springs.
Emergency services were called to a home in Eastside, in the Northern Territory, following reports a 29-year-old woman woke up to find a man she didn’t know was allegedly sexually assaulting her about 10.17pm on Monday.

NT Police will allege the woman woke during the sexual assault and screamed, which alerted other people staying in the home before the man fled the area in a car.
Police later found the man who allegedly fled the scene on Gap Rd.
The 22-year-old man allegedly ran from police before he was arrested on Traeger Ave at 10.39pm.

He was charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent, one count each of aggravated burglary of a dwelling, gross indecency without consent, armed with an offensive weapon and traffic offences.
The man will appear before Alice Springs Local Court on Wednesday.
Police are also appealing for information about two unknown people who were spotted in the car travelling with the 22-year-old man before his arrest.
Officers would like to speak to the two people and urge them to contact police.
