Woman’s body found at fire scene

Dec. 9—GIRARD, Kan. — Fire and sheriff’s department authorities are investigating the death of a woman in a structure fire Saturday at 389 S. 190th St.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the fire at 7:12 a.m.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were contacted and responded to the scene.

The body was transported to Kansas City for autopsy to determine the cause of the death.

The name of the victim is being withheld until identification can be made, authorities said, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
